About Salty Ink

Salty Ink is the brainchild of Chad Pelley, multi-award-winning author of Away from Everywhere (2009).

About Salty Ink: Highly influenced by the diversity and quality of Atlantic Canadian literary fiction,  and hyper-sensitive to the reality of booksales (no one buys a book they haven’t heard of), I decided to help shine a light on Atlantic Canadian fiction and poetry, using a variety of both random and regular articles. Every website needs a niche, so Salty Ink acts as a spotlight on Atlantic Canadian writers, primarily books of literary fiction, though some exceptions will be made.

Salty Ink’s Mandate: To promote Atlantic Canadian writers, namely literary fiction and a dash of poetry. As a one-man operation, it is too much work to also cover genre fiction, non-fiction, YA, etc.

Salty Ink’s Plea: Please understand Salty Ink is a one-man operation, and that man is a slow reader. Also, I am trying to brand this site, to give it a reliable consistancy and feel for its followers, and as such, not every book — great as some may be — fit with Salty Ink’s brand. It is nothing personal if I don’t have time to read or promote every book (i.e your hatemail is a waste of energy).

Short Author Bio for Chad Pelley: Chad is an anthologized, multi-award-winning writer from St. John’s, Newfoundland. Most recently, he won the NLAC’s CBC Emerging Artist of the Year award, the 2009 Cuffer Prize, and was shortlisted for the Canadian Authors Association (CAA) Emerging Writer of the Year award. His debut novel, Away from Everywhere (2009), was a Coles bestseller and a most-requested title at Chapters in St. John’s. It also made its way onto several “Best of 2009″ lists, in publications like The Scope, Current Magazine, and Atlantic Canada’s 100 Greatest Books’ website. As of 2010, he is represented by Chris Bucci at The McDermid Agency.
