A Good Year for Atlantic Canada at the CBA Libris Awards this week.

The Canadian Booksellers Association doles out several wide-ranging, all-inclusive awards each year, recognizing not only books and authors, but people in the industry as well: editors, publicists, booksellers. The shortlists are selected by members of the industry.

The 2010 Libris Awards were presented  last Saturday night at the Delta Toronto Airport West Hotel, and hosted by CBC Radio One’s Shelagh Rogers.

Nova Scotian bookstores Woozles Ltd and BookmarkII took home specialty bookseller of the year and bookseller of the year respectively.

Linden MacIntyre a Double-winner

Linden was the night’s only double-winner, taking home the Fiction Book of the Year award for his Giller-winner, The Bishop’s Man, as well as Author of the Year award, which honours “outstanding literary work and a contribution to Canadian culture and support of the bookselling industry.”

Congrats to Anansi for taking the Publisher of the Year award once again. (They gave us books like February, Mole, and Gun Dogs in 2009) and to Coach House Books for winning Small Press of the Year. (They gave us Amphibian in 2009.)
